BeCat — Privacy Policy

Eyebrow: PRIVACY

H1: We do not sell your data. We do not rent it. We do not share it outside what's needed to ship the box.

PLAIN-ENGLISH OPENER

We collect your name, address, email, and order history because we need them to send you a litter box. That is the entire reason we have your data. We do not sell it. We do not rent it. We do not share it with food brands, insurance carriers, vets, or data brokers. If you ask us to delete it, we delete it within five business days and we send you a confirmation.

If we ever add a new processor with material access to personal information, we update this list and post a "last updated" date at the bottom of this page.

COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

  • Strictly necessary functions — keeping your cart, remembering you're logged in, processing checkout. These can't be turned off without breaking the site.
  • Analytics — aggregate usage measurement.
  • Advertising — measuring conversion from ads and serving relevant remarketing. You can opt out via the controls described in "Your rights."

If you're in a jurisdiction that requires it (EU, UK, California, and several other states), you'll see a cookie banner the first time you visit. Your choices are stored and respected on subsequent visits.

HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR DATA

  • Order records: retained as long as required by US tax and accounting law (typically 7 years), then deleted.
  • Customer accounts: retained until you ask us to delete, or until the account is inactive for 5 years.
  • Marketing subscribers: retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Support tickets: retained for 3 years from resolution, then deleted.

YOUR RIGHTS

You have the right to:

  • See your data: Email support@becatshop.com with the subject line "Data request." We send the full export within 5 business days at no cost.
  • Correct your data: Log in to your account, or email us.
  • Delete your data: Email us with the subject line "Delete my data." We delete within 5 business days and send confirmation. Note: deletion also ends any in-progress warranty claim, because we won't have your purchase record to honor it.
  • Opt out of marketing: Unsubscribe from any email (one click), or email us.
  • Opt out of ad-targeting cookies: Use the cookie banner controls, or your browser's "do not track" / privacy settings.

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA), including the right to know, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. We do engage in limited "sharing" with advertising platforms as defined under CPRA — you can opt out by submitting a request to support@becatshop.com or via the cookie banner.

EU and UK residents have rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object to processing, and data portability. The legal basis for most of our processing is contract performance (shipping your order) or legitimate interest (running the business). Marketing relies on your consent.

You can exercise any of these rights by emailing support@becatshop.com. We will not retaliate against you for exercising your rights.

CHILDREN

This website is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you are under 16, please do not place an order without a parent or guardian present. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, email us and we will delete it.

SECURITY

We work with vendors that maintain industry-standard security practices, including TLS encryption for data in transit and PCI-DSS compliance for payment processing. No internet service is ever 100% secure; if a breach affects your data, we notify you in accordance with applicable law.

INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

We are based in the United States. Our service providers may store and process data in the United States, Canada, the EU, or other regions. Where required, transfers from the EU/UK are made under Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful mechanism.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

If we change this Privacy Policy, we post the updated version with a new "last updated" date at the bottom. Material changes are emailed to customers with an active account.
